KitAid donates kits

University of North Carolina (UNC) Project on Thursday donated sports kits to Scores Football Club, which runs a sports academy in Lilongwe.

UNC sourced the kits, which included jerseys, boots and a first aid bag, from KitAid, a United Kingdom-based charitable organisation.

UNC Project Malawi Scientific Director, Mina Hosseinipour, speaking when she handed over the kits at Kaliyeka Ground in Lilongwe, said her organisation is excited to be associated with KitAID in grooming footballers.

“UNC Project Malawi is a biomedical research institution that aims at identifying innovative, culturally acceptable and affordable methods to improve the health [status] of Malawians through research, capacity building and care. I believe that the community outreach activities that UNC Project Malawi carries out do complement KitAid; hence, facilitating the donation of football kits, boots and first aid bag,” Hosseinipour said.

Scores Coach, Chifundo Sadyeka, said: “We are very grateful for the donation. Scores Football Club has four teams at under 12, 14, 17 and 20 levels. These kits will assist us greatly in motivating the youth to participate in football.”
