Malawi Open Golf tees off

The three-day 2017 Malawi Open Golf Championship tees off from today at Lilongwe Golf Club, courtesy of TNM’s sponsorship.

Some 140 golfers are expected to participate in the national event which Golf Union of Malawi (GUoM) will host for the 10th successive year.

Golfers will compete in A and B divisions for seniors with juniors also involved in their category.

In a statement, TNM Chief Officer (Enterprise Services), Vishwajeet Deshmukh, said the tournament highlights his company’s commitment towards golf development.

“The 2017 Open is even bigger and better as we have invited golfers to come with their families and join us as we celebrate 10 years of uninterrupted sponsorship,” Deshmukh said.

“Through the digital transformation campaign, TNM has taken a step to introduce digital services. By digital we mean the broad range of technologies and applications that enable greater efficiency and automation, better decision making, and stronger relationship with customers and other external stakeholders.”

GUoM President, Frank Mvalo, said the union was looking forward to an exciting tournament.

“I would like to thank TNM for this long and fruitful partnership that has helped in the development of professional golf in the country. We are looking forward to another great and competitive tournament as we celebrate 10 years of this partnership,” Mvalo said.
