Former welterweight champion, Kudakwache Nkhakamila Banda and his challenger, Simeon Tcheta, have camped outside their respective bases in Lilongwe ahead of their fight on Saturday.

The boxers will clash in an eight-round non-title middleweight contest at M1 Centre Point.

Ahead of the fight, Kudakwache, who is seeking to bounce back from two consecutive loses to Limbani Masamba, has camped in Liwonde where he is sparring with Chimwemwe Chiotcha.

Not wishing to be outdone, Tcheta has also relocated to Salima for sparring with boxers such as Yusuf Dilla.

Kudakwache was elusive when asked about his camping in Liwonde.

“It does not matter as to where I am camping. Of course, I wanted a change of environment and I am pleased that I am training with one of the best boxers in the country. He will help me rediscover my form,” he said.

Kudakwache, a southpaw, has 12 wins and two defeats.

Tcheta, 24, who has a perfect record in five fights, said he had stepped up his training in Salima.

“I am not taking this fight lightly. My opponent had to go elsewhere to avoid being monitored. My preparations are progressing well,” he said.

New Dawn Boxing Promotions Managing Director, Mike Chimaliza, said he was happy that the boxers have intensified their training.
