South Africa Absa Premier Soccer League side, Cape Town City, have reportedly extended trials for Be Forward Wanderers attacker, Isaac Kaliyati—an indication that he is a talent worth assessing critically.
Kaliyati’s trials were expected to end on Monday, but Wanderers Team Manager, Steve Madeira, on Wednesday confirmed that the winger was still in Cape Town.
“The reports that he is back are not correct. They have extended the trials for an undisclosed period of time,” Madeira said.
South Africa based football broker of the trials, Mike Makaab, on Wednesday confirmed that Kaliyati was still undergoing the trials.
It is believed that Kaliyati’s contract has expired with Wanderers hence he is hoping for an exit as a free agent. Nonetheless, the Nomads have the first option for renewal of the contract.
The Nomads seem to have planned for Kaliyati’s departure by signing Yamikani Chester from Azam Tigers.
Kaliyati, who can play in every attacking position, was part of the 2014 Ernest Mtawali-coached Malawi Under-20 National Team that was two games away from qualifying for the Africa Youth Championship finals.
The former Tigers winger eventually graduated into the Flames alongside the likes of Miracle Gabeya, Dalitso Sailesi, Chawanangwa Kawonga, Levison Maganizo, Brighton Munthali and Chester.
