Southern Region Chess League (SRCL) will hold a self-sponsored individual chess championship early next month.
The region’s Chess Coordinator, Kissinger Kabuluzi, said the competition was aimed at preparing players for the forthcoming national championship.
“At the moment, we are collecting pledges but I can assure the chess fraternity that we will give outstanding players some good prizes.
“Each player will be allowed to conclude his game within 90 minutes. If a player fails to manage the time, then automatically they will lose the game,” he said.
Kabuluzi said they have introduced month-end series of tournaments to keep players active.
Registration fee is pegged at K1,000 per players and the completion is open to ladies.
