DJ Agnes has organised a farewell cocktail dubbed “Cocktail 4 A Cause” that will take place at Latitude 13 in Lilongwe on Saturday.
The cocktail, to be hosted by Mr.265 and Zodiak TV Cynthia Zonde, is aimed at fundraising for Timalechi Nursery School of Mzimba.
DJ Flexor, who is Queen Agnes’s manager, said this is a farewell party. for the lady DJ.
“She would like to set a good example for musicians, artists and DJs in the country and organisations to support the underprivileged people in the country,” he said.
DJ Flexor said Mixmasters Entertainment is calling upon well wishers to support Queen Agnes who has been in the country since December last year to support girls’ education in Malawi.
“We would like to call for support from Malawians as one way of appreciating what Queen Agnes is doing for the girls in Mzimba,” he said.
Timalechi was founded by Agnes’s grandfather, Gogo Winston “Timalechi” Zimba, in 1997 and it was adopted by the lady in DJ in 2013.
Despite adopting the school, there are a lot of challenges that the school is facing but Queen Agnes is determined to keep it running.
“The immediate need is to make sure that teachers at the school continue receiving their salaries. We intend to raise about K1million to go towards teachers’ salaries until the end of the school year,” said Queen Agnes who is a daughter to legendary musician the late Bright Nkhata.
During the cocktail, there will be music performances by Hazel Mak, Bizzy B, DJ Nathan Tunes and VJ Ice. There will also be a fashion display by Kwacha Creations.
Raffle draw prizes will include cocktail gift basket and a tablet while the dress code is all white. The tickets for the cocktail are available at Latitude 13, B1 Cafe & Grill, Visions Gaming, Keg Gateway Mall, Four Seasons and New Area 10 Café.
