Be Forward Wanderers have told their latest Nigerian imports to start living up to their expectations by adjusting to the local game.
Nomads sealed loan deals for Ebuka Fabian Ozochukwu and Adekola Ayinla for the rest of the season, but they have failed to break into the starting line-up.
Ozochukwu showed touches of brilliance when he debuted for Nomads in a 2-1 loss to Kamuzu Barracks at Civo Stadium whereas Ayinla is yet to feature for Nomads having spent over a month.
Wanderers’ General Secretary, Mike Butao, on Monday said the foreign players were good enough to help the team, but they were struggling due to the physical aspect of the domestic football.
“It is up to them to up their game. But we will see at the end of the season when their loan deals expire,” he said.
Ozochukwu and Ayinla joined Wanderers following recommendations from Nigerian legend, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha.
Former Wanderers and Nyasa Big Bullets forward, Andrew Chikhosi, shared Butao’s sentiments that the physical aspect of the local game makes it difficult for foreigners to adapt.
With five games to wrap up the season, it is unlikely that Ozochukwu and Ayinla will feature for the club again.
Despite bringing more foreign players this season only Nigerian, Amos Bello, enjoys game-time at Wanderers whereas Japanese forward, Genki Nakamura, is struggling to hit the ground running.
