Be Forward Wanderers heaved a sigh of relief Tuesday when their influential captain Francis Mlimbika returned to training on Tuesday.
There were fears that the left-back, who limped off after scoring in the 4-0 trouncing of Wizards FC at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday, would be unavailable for Saturday’s TNM Super League game against Blue Eagles at the same venue.
However, Mlimbika Tuesday said doctors gave him the all-clear to return to training.
“It was just a knock after I landed awkwardly on my right. I am available for selection,” said the Flames defender, who was also sidelined for a month earlier this season.
In the camp of rivals Nyasa Big Bullets, midfielders, Mike Mkwate and Henry Kabichi, are also injury-doubts having missed Saturday’s Presidential Cup final against Moyale Barracks at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
Kabichi, who can play virtually anywhere in the middle of the park, confirmed that he was unavailable for action.
“I twisted my ankle while training last Thursday and I will be out for 15 days,” Kabichi said.
Bullets defender John Lanjesi is also on a lengthy injury sideline alongside out-of-contract goalkeeper Vincent Gona
