Rainbow Paints reaffirmed its commitment to the Southern Region Netball League (SRNL)—the stronghold of domestic netball—after unveiling K4 million-sponsorship at Blantyre Youth Centre on Thursday.
The company’s Sales and Marketing Executive, Jangale Chiosa, said the sponsorship fulfills the promise they made during last season’s closing ceremony.
“They are accountable and transparent and that is why you have seen us today,” she said.
SRNL General Secretary, Annie Hanjahanja, said they were delighted with Rainbow Paints’ support.
“If this league was inactive then Malawi’s netball would have been dealt a heavy blow. The league is the backbone of the Malawi National Netball Team as it contributes a lot of players,” she explained.
“A bit of statistics: It is this league that produced Malawi’s first netball export to overseas in the name of Mwawi Kumwenda. This league has produced national team players, coaches and doctors among others.”
The sponsorship also comprises media awards for all platforms, including a specialised Best Female Journalist category. Sports Writers Association (Swam) will be in charge of the awards.
