Football Association of Malawi (Fam), in collaboration with Carlsberg Malawi Limited officials, are Friday expected to conduct live Carlsberg Cup national phase draw at Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Television Kwacha Studios in Blantyre.

According to Fam Competitions Manager, Gomezgani Zakazaka, the draw will attract 32 teams with 16 coming from the Super League and the rest from three regional leagues.

Zakazaka said the competition started last month with 48 teams taking part at the regional level. The regional phase winds up with one match in the Northern Region on Sunday.

He said the competition has been a success at the regional phase.

He added that the draw will start with the round of-32 games, with top-eight Super League teams from last season seeded as they will not face each other.

The top league teams will be drawn against the remaining 24 teams in the other Pot.

“We are now venturing into a real action of the competition. I am hopeful that we will have a fair draw. As Fam, we have made sure that this draw should be transparent and this is why we have partnered MBC TV to beam the draw live,” Zakazaka said.

“We want the Carlsberg competition to be the best this year. So, we expect real action at the national phase as the Super League teams will be involved.”
