TNM Super League rookies, Karonga United, endured a miserable outing to the Capital City over the weekend when they lost against leaders Blue Eagles and Kamuzu Barracks (KB).
It was a week to forget for the Karonga Crocodiles as were thumped 3-1 by Eagles on Saturday before another humiliating 4-1 defeat at the hands of KB on Sunday at Civo Stadium.
The rookies conceded seven goals in two games, just scoring two goals. Vitumbiko Kumwenda, Steven Msiska and Gilbert Chirwa netted for Eagles on Saturday, whereas Twisi Kalolokesya scored for Karonga.
On Sunday, Kelvin Hanganda hammered a brace for the soldiers with other goals coming from Manase Chiyesa and Pempho Kamsichiri, whereas Hygiene Mwapendeka was on target for Karonga again.
Despite a poor showing in Lilongwe, Karonga coach, Kondwani Mwaleni had no kind words for the referees.
“I think the referees contributed to our downfall. They were biased towards Eagles and KB. My players played well in both games and we deserved something better than losses,” Mwaleni said in a post-match interview on Sunday.
The victory over Karonga has pushed KB to position six with 19 points, much to the delight of coach Billy Pambala.
“We are slowly getting better and the players are playing according to my game-plan,” Phambala said. fire blanks
