Fired-up Flames striker Gabadinho Mhango has been earmarked for a leading role in the striking force of his new South African club, BidVest Wits.
Coach Gavin Hunt told leading South Africa newspaper, the Sowetan, that being a quality foreigner, Mhango deserves to be in the starting line-up.
“He will give us more pace and movement. He will give us something different. When you sign a foreigner‚ he has to start. That has been a problem for us this past season. Your foreigners must start,” Hunt said.
Last season while on loan, Mhango blew hot and cold at Golden Arrows‚ before eventually finishing the campaign strongly after scoring five goals, including four in one match.
Signed by Bloemfontein Celtic ahead of the 2013/14 campaign‚ Mhango produced nine goals in his 15 starts, but injuries slowed down his progress last season. Wits signed him on a pre-contract before he joined Arrows on loan.
Mhango gave a timely reminder on Sunday night of just what Wits will be getting next season with a hat-trick for Malawi in their 3-0 Cosafa Castle Cup Group B win against Angola.
Mhango’s movement‚ pace and powerful shooting made him the stand-out player on the pitch.
