A new locally authored book is on the market to inspire budding entrepreneurs and leaders on the dynamics of achievement and success.
Written by Malawi’s own fast-growing inspiration speaker and writer, Daniel Dunga, the book titled: “Grit – Your Master Key to Achieving Your Life Goals”, makes a compelling case that with courage and determination, anyone can become “more and bigger”.
“We can all unleash our fullest potential through grit. Achievement of greatness is not an exclusive reserve of some or a certain class of people. It is for all to attain,” writes Dunga in the postscript of the book.
The foreword has been written by renowned local entrepreneur Thomson Mpinganjira and Dunga said the main shareholder in what would become Malawi’s third largest bank was chosen for the preface because “he has the grit – the art of sheer persistence and perseverance.”
In the foreword, Mpinganjira recommends the book, saying it captures well the secret key to success.
“Achievement of greatness requires persistence, perseverance and a dogged determination. It requires Grit,” writes Mpinganjira.
A chartered accountant by training, Dunga currently chairs the Competitions and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) and works as general manager for Continental Asset Management Limited.
He previously worked at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM), then known as Society of Accountants in Malawi (Socam) where he become CEO at the age of 28.
In 2014, he was a fellow of the Mandela-Washington Fellowship under the Young African Leaders Initiative of the United States of America and met President Barack Obama who launched the initiative in the same year to help in grooming future Africa leaders.
“On July 28, 2014, I shook hands with President Obama in Washington DC. He may not remember this, but I do vividly. It was a never to be forgotten moment that reshaped and refocused my life,” writes Dunga in the introduction of the book.
