Airtel Malawi has announced the appointment of Charles Kamoto, a Malawian national, as its new Managing Director effective March 1, 2016.
A statement released on Wednesday says Kamoto joined Airtel in May 2014 as Chief Commercial Officer. Before joining Airtel, Komoto served as Chief Commercial Officer for Telekom Networks Malawi between January 2011 and May 2014. The statement quotes Christian de Faria, the Chief Executive Officer for Airtel Africa, as saying that the company believes that as the Managing Director for Malawi, Komoto will continue to build on his good work to innovate winning customer solutions for Malawi, consolidate the gains made in defending our revenue market share and build external stakeholder relations.
Kamoto holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Malawi, Polytechnic, and an MBA from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute.
