Southern Zone Basketball League (Sozobal) has organised a day-long get-together tournament at Blantyre Youth Centre on Sunday.
According to Sozobal’s executive committee member, Horace Amosi, who is the event’s Chairperson, the tournament intends to bring basketball lovers and aspiring basketballers together.
“It is an open tournament even social players are encouraged to participate. The fee is just K1,000 per player. It is a four-on-four tournament and we are looking for a maximum of 32 teams to register,” he said.
Amosi also disclosed that they had earmarked people who play corporate social basketball, Sunday basketball and senior league basketball.
“Normally, these people do not have a chance to get together and we are hoping to provide them that platform. At the end of the day, after bringing the family together, we hope to share ideas,” he said.
Amosi said the tournament would run simultaneously with sporting activities such as volleyball and football.
Urban music star, Theo Thompson, and other artists will spice up the day.
