Zomba-based Fifa referee, Dennis Ngulube, will leave the country for Botswana Friday alongside Hendrix Maseko and Edward Kambatuwa to officiate a Confederation of African Football (Caf) U-20 match between the Young Zebras and Namibia.
The match will take place at Lobomboshe Stadium, and according Caf website, Ngulube will be the centre referee while being assisted by Maseko and Kambatuwa as the first and second assistant referees, respectively.
Zambian fourth match official, referee Harry Tsuana, will complete the officiating panel.
Ngulube said yesterday he was happy to be given the opportunity to officiate on the international level, saying the appointment shows that Caf has trust in them.
“All I can say is that we will do our best. I will not mess up this opportunity. It is just unfortunate that, sometimes here at home, we are accused of bias, but that is not the case,” Ngulube said.
It is believed that Ngulube was supposed to officiate a Presidential Cup semifinal between Nyasa Big Bullets and Mafco FC tomorrow at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
