Malawi national netball team’s preparations for the World Cup have received a timely boost, as Manchester Thunder shooter Joyce Mvula has received an all-clear to train with the United Kingdom’s main squad in an off-season drill.

Mvula has been using a protective knee guard after sustaining an injury in a Vitality Superleague decider against Wasps 57-52 in the Grand Final at London’s Copper Box on May 18 2019.

“The doctors removed the knee guard and I have been advised to train with the team this week. So, we will see how I will react from the training. However, I am feeling much better and raring to go,” she said.

Mvula said she was undergoing special training sessions in her quest to stay in shape for the world showpiece that throws-off on July 12 to 21 in Liverpool.

Queens Coach, Griffin Saenda Senior, recently said they hoped Mvula would recover on time to fill the void created following the injury of fellow shooter Mwawi Kumwenda of Melbourne Vixens, Australia.

Mvula has been in scintillating form after she was named Thunder’s players’ player of the year and coach’s player of the season.
