Several artists who contested for parliamentary seats have not done well except a few, according to unofficial results from some of the constituencies.
One of the artists who has fallen out is Soldier Lucius Banda, who was seeking re-election as member of Parliament for Balaka North.
“Thank you Balaka North, it was an honour serving you for the past five years,” Lucius wrote on his Facebook page.
The other artist, who has failed to win a seat in Mulanje, is actor Michael Usi— better known as Manganya— who is also UTM presidential running mate.
Manganya cast his vote in Mulanje and described the voting process on Tuesday as fast.
“The voting process was fast. It did not take me long to cast my vote and, so, I am happy to have exercised my right to vote,” Manganya said.
Other artists who have missed out on parliamentary seats, according to unofficial results, include Tay Grin, who contested in Lilongwe and Fredokiss, who contested in Blantyre.
The other one is Aaron Chambo, who contested in Mulanje.
As we went to press Thursday, it was not known as to whether Honjo star San B, who contested in Blantyre, and poet Felix Katsoka, who contested in Ntcheu, had made it.
Unofficial parliamentary results also indicated Thursday that Thoko Tembo and Billy Kaunda had made it to Parliament.
