By Sam Banda Jnr:
Mizu Band Manager, Emmanuel Maliro, said yesterday they will be engaged in several end of year parties.
Maliro has since said the Blantyre-based group will go on a two-week break before coming back for the parties.
The group was involved in an accident on Tuesday at Phalula on their way from Lilongwe where they performed at a Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority function.
Maliro said the members sustained minor injuries despite that the minibus they were travelling in is in poor condition.
“Glory be to God that all the members are fine,” he said.
Maliro added: “We have been hired to perform at several end of year parties in December so with the accident which we were involved in, we felt we should have a two weeks break and then come back.”
He maintained that all the members were fine having undergone check-ups.
“From Balaka District Hospital, the members were referred to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre and I can say that the check-ups went well and everyone is fine. But, with the shows coming thick and fast next month, we thought we should break for two weeks to rest,” Maliro said.
He also said Mizu Band is intact and that it has vocalists such as Vimbai, Ted and Felix.
Vimbai and Ted had a stint in the forgotten E-Wallet competition.
In the past the group which offers cover songs, was being driven by JJ and Eunice Kadzuwa Mhango as vocalists.
“JJ, you may recall, is in Lilongwe and Eunice is on leave. We just want to thank people for their support. The group is there because of the support we receive from them and we will continue to bring out the best,” he said.
