TO CAMP IN ZIMBABWE AGAIN—Bashir

Two-belt holder Anisha Bashir will wait a little longer before realising her World Boxing Council belt dream as her potential Silver Lightweight title fight against Australian boxer, Deanha Hobbs, has been postponed.

“It is frustrating to be training hard only for the fight to be postponed. This year, I have only fought once but it would have been better if I had, at least, fought four or six times,” she said.

The Malawian, who holds African Boxing Union Super Lightweight and Common wealth International Lightweight titles, was due to face Hobbs at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday.

Bashir said she would continue training so as to remain in shape.

“But this kind of training is somehow simple. You only focus and train hard when you are preparing for a fight,” she said.

Her stable, No Pain No Gain Promotions, budgeted K78 million for the bout.

Bashir knocked out Samantha ‘SJ’ Smith in the first-round at York Hall in London, the United Kingdom, to win the Commonwealth belt.

She improved her record to eight straight knockout wins with five defeats.
