RONALD MPASO:
Nyasa Big Bullets supporters registration exercise is off to an impressive start, with 2,500 fans buying their identity cards since the exercise started last month.
The exercise is part of Bullets’ commercialisation drive which aims at ensuring that the club generates its own resources and runs as a business entity.
Bullets Chief Executive Officer, Fleetwood Haiya, said the figures have been impressive since the initiative was launched.
“We are going out to meet our supporters and they are responding very well to the exercise. We would like to prove to the football fraternity that we have the biggest fan base in the country. We have taken off. We are not stopping until we register every willing Bullets supporter,” Haiya said.
He said the current figures have surpassed previous campaigns that registered 700 supporters only, adding that they were targeting 5,000 fans by the end of the month.
Balaka-based Bullets supporter, Patron Kalonga, attributed the success of the exercise to the commercialisation drive.
“The organisation on the ground is impressive. We have confidence in what is happening at the club. The team is also performing well. This is what has motivated most of us to embrace the exercise,” he said.
Bullets have an estimated fan base of six million and the supporters are registering in different categories of Platinum (K100,000), Gold (K50,000), Silver (K25,000) and Maule (K1,000).
Bullets must have raised a minimum of K2.5 million from the exercise.
