Nyasa Big Bullets Coach, Rodgers Yasini, has said they will try to safeguard their TNM Super League top spot as the first-round nears conclusion.

Yasini said they would target a win when they meet Blue Eagles in the last game of the first-round at Mulanje Park Stadium on Saturday.

Yasini said the match offers Bullets a chance to avenge the 1-0 loss they suffered to Eagles in Airtel Top 8 final played at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe recently.

“We have to be very careful because Eagles beat us in the Airtel Top 8 so it will be a tough game. I hope that the players will give 100 percent performance as they know the importance of the game,” Yasini said.

Bullets lead the log table with 32 points from 14 games—just one point above Silver Strikers— having drawn 0-0 against the Bankers at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday before beating Mafco 1-0 at Kasungu Ground on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Mafco acting Coach, Tione Mhone, is upbeat of escaping relegation despite that his team is second from bottom with 11 points from 14 games.

Mafco, who face Be Forward Wanderers in their last game of the first-round this weekend, claimed their second win of the season after beating Moyale Barracks 1-0 at Kasungu Stadium before losing to Bullets at the same venue.

“We showed great improvement in the two games we played over the weekend. Our desire is to move out of the relegation zone. I am confident that soon we will be in the safe zone,” the former Zomba United coach said.

In other games played over the weekend, third-placed Wanderers drew 0-0 against fourth-positioned Civil Sporting Club at Balaka Stadium on Saturday.

The Nomads have 25 points from 14 games whereas Civil have 24 points from the same number of games.

Elsewhere, Mzuni beat TN Stars 2-0 at Mzuzu Stadium whereas Karonga United defeated Masters Security 1-0 at Karonga Stadium.
