Thunder vow to stop Diamonds

Revived Thunder Queens have vowed to end Kukoma Diamonds’ terrific start to the season in the Rainbow Paints Blantyre and Districts Netball League.

Diamonds are yet to taste defeat this season and, on Sunday, they humiliated Gerald Tasaukadala Sisters 163-6 at Blantyre Youth Centre.

Diamonds top the log table with 16 points whereas Thunders have moved to within two points of the leaders, having collected 14 points.

Thunder Coach, Christina Mkwanda, said they can derail Diamonds’ campaign.

“Our players are now in good shape and they have put financial woes aside.

They are determined to play for the love of the game. I am devising a new game-plan. If my players report for training like they have been doing recently, I think we will stop them [Diamonds],” she said.

Diamonds Assistant Coach, Noel Mussa, said their mission is to finish the season unbeaten.

“The players are fighting to get into the line-up and this is good for us,” he said.

Over the weekend, Tigresses defeated Polytechnic 97-9 whereaas Chilomoni Sisters beat Gerald Tasaukadala Sisters 74-12. Prison Sisters humbled Serenity Stars 48-39.
