BY WILLIAMS GONDWA:

TNM Super League champions Be Forward Wanderers and Moyale Barracks will clash at Mzuzu Stadium on Friday in a friendly, which is part of 54th Independence Anniversary Celebrations.

Football Association of Malawi General Secretary, Alfred Gunda, Wednesday said they chose Wanderers and Moyale after consulting the government.

Nomads Coach Bob Mpinganjira and his Moyale counterpart Charles Kamanga said they were geared up for the showdown.

Mpinganjira said the friendly offers them an opportunity to fine-tune ahead of competitive games.

“Despite that this is a friendly, we need to show that we are the defending champions, so we will try to win the match,” Mpinganjira said.

Kamanga said they want to beat Wanderers, having lost to them in four consecutive competitive matches.

“It would be a tough game but we want to avoid defeat,” Kamanga said.

Last year, Nyasa Big Bullets beat Silver Strikers 2-0 in an Independence Celebration match played at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
