Malawi under-20 national football team defeated hosts, Zambia, 1-0 Sunday in a warm-up match for next month’s Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) third and final qualifying two-legged matches against South Africa.
The Junior Flames, who lost 1-0 to the Zambians recently in yet another friendly, scored the lone goal through Andrew Maliselo in the fourth minute.
Interestingly, South Africa will also warm up for Malawi by playing against the Zambians. Malawi were without key players such as Peter Banda and Tony Biyasi who are sitting for Malawi School Certificate of Education examinations.
The winner of the match between Malawi and South Africa will qualify for the 2019 Afcon finals in Niger.
