Be Forward Wanderers ended their two-game winless run after beating Kamuzu Barracks (KB) 2-1 at Kasungu Stadium yesterday whereas leaders Nyasa Big Bullets and second-placed Silver Strikers dropped points on the road.

Right-back Stanley Sanudi and attacker Yamikani Chester scored for Wanderers to earn their Coach Bob Mpinganjira his first win since taking over the mantle from Yasin Osman and take their tally to 11 points from seven games.

In a post-match interview, Mpinganjira said: “We played a good game and my players worked hard. It is a morale boaster. We will try hard to move forward in the league.”

The 2016 champions, KB who scored the consolation goal through Francisco Kanzeka, have now lost in three consecutive games in all competitions to the Nomads. The soldiers have 15 points from 11 games and their Coach Temwa Msuku rued missed chances.

“Individual errors cost us the game but we have lost as a team,” Msuku said.

The Nomads are, ahead of today’s game against Blue Eagles at Nankhaka, 11 points behind Bullets who drew 2-2 with 12th placed Dwangwa United at Chitowe Stadium. Defender Miracle Gabeya put the visitors ahead before Patrick Macheso equalised for Dwangwa.  Striker Chiukepo Msowoya restored Bullets’ lead but Victor Harawa restored parity for the hosts. Dwangwa have 12 points from 11 games. Bullets lead the table with 22 points from 10 games, two points ahead of Silver who were held 1-1 by Mzuni. Silver can overtake Bullets if they beat hosts Karonga United today.

Mphatso Phillimoni and Lameck Njawala netted for the Bankers and students, respectively, yesterday.

The Bankers have 20 points from nine games whereas the students’ tally is now eight points from 11 games.

In Lilongwe, Civil Sporting Club saw off Red Lions 3-2 at Civo Stadium where in-form striker Raphael Phiri bagged a brace and Charles White scored the other goal.

Striker Boniface Kaulesi and Moses Nankhumba scored for the soldiers who have now lost back-to-back away games.
