Tigers hungry for top-4 finish

Struggling Azam Tigers have said they are fighting for a top-four finish in the TNM Super League first-round.

Tigers Coach, Richard Fosko, reacting to Sunday’s 1-0 loss to hosts Silver Strikers in Lilongwe on Sunday, said he believes that his team can bounce back to form.

“We have lost most of our away games not because we are a bad side but due to poor officiation. In Sunday’s game, the referee denied us clear penalties.

“However, there is time for us to bounce back. But we are no longer in title contention. The best we can do is finish among top-four teams so that we can build on this in the second-round,” Fosko said.

Tigers, who once topped the log table after playing most games at home, have dropped to position seven with 13 points from 10 games.

Bullets did not play over the weekend, thereby allowing Silver to move closer, with 19 points, two points behind the People’s Team.
