Mzuni FC’s new coaching panel has admitted being under pressure due to the team’s position on the TNM Super League log table.
Mzuni are placed 15th on the 16-member table with seven points from nine games.
The new panel, led by former Nyasa Big Bullets defender and coach Gilbert Chirwa and his assistant Etson Kadenge Mwafulirwa, was appointed last week as caretaker coaches.
The new panel was hired following the suspension of Coach Alex Ngwira and his assistants McNebert Kazuwa and Jomo Ngonga following a request by the students.
Kadenge-Mwafulirwa on Monday said they have started drilling the team but hard work lies ahead.
“It would not be easy but we just need to continue from the foundation laid by our friends. We are happy that we have received full support from the Executive Committee and management. What remains is for us to polish up some areas and pull the team out of the relegation zone,” Kadenge said.
The former Embangweni United coach praised the good working relationship with Chirwa and Kinnah Phiri, who is rendering technical assistance to Mzuni temporarily.
Mzuni Chairperson, Albert Mtungambera Harawa, has since stressed that Chirwa and Mwafulirwa were just caretaker coaches since Ngwira, Kazuwa and Ngonga would return to the team.
