Toyota Malawi has donated K2.5 million to Malawi Paralympic Committee (MPC) as part of the car dealers’ partnership with the body that administers sports disciplines for the physically challenged.
MPC President, James Chiutsi, hailed Toyota for making the donation at the company’s head office in Blantyre on Monday.
“There are so many challenges that the committee is facing. We lack funding for games and referees, so this donation will positively affect us as it will cater for the needs of athletes and the committee,” Chiutsi said.
Toyota General Manager for Corporate Affairs, Andrew Katimba, said they donated to the committee as a way of supporting sports activities involving people with disabilities.
“This is an international initiative that Toyota has launched. The company plans to find brand ambassadors through games hosted for paralympic athletes,” Katimba said.
The partnership between Toyota and MPC runs from 2017 to 2024
