Flames striker, Gabadinho Mhango, has thanked his Bidvest Wits teammates for helping him to win the Man-of-the-Match award in Saturday’s Telkom Knock-Out final win over Bloemfontein Celtic.
Gaba received the individual accolade after a tireless display in the 1-0 victory over his former side.
The former Nyasa Big Bullets wonderkid was making his return from a six-match suspension for spitting at AmaZulu midfielder Michael Morton in September.
Gaba was quoted by Supersport.com as saying: “First of all, I want to thank God and my teammates. I was suspended for six games and for me to come back and be Man-of-the-Match, I couldn’t have done it without the help of my teammates. As players, it is good to win trophies; so maybe this cup will give us confidence (in the league).”
In reference to the team’s poor form in South Africa’s Absa Premier Soccer League, Gaba said the cup win will motivate the team and it would come out fighting.
The Clever Boys are currently 16th in the league after 11 games but would have the chance to move out of the drop zone when they face Ajax Cape Town this evening.
