Big Bullets, Be Forward Wanderers win

Airtel Top 8 Cup finalists, Be Forward Wanderers and Silver Strikers, returned to action in the TNM Super League Sunday after weeks of exemption due to their progression in the inaugural tournament.

Both giants collected maximum points as another big gun, Nyasa Big Bullets, continued scoring and winning for the third consecutive match.

The Central Bankers were 2-0 winners over defending champions, Kamuzu Barracks (KB), while the Nomads got back to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 triumph over high-riding Premier Bet Wizards.

Silver’s Ghanaian forward Michael Tetteh came off the bench in the second half to score two quick goals that swept aside the soldiers in a dull encounter at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

It was KB’s second loss of the season having played four games.

The Central Bankers have done a double over the soldiers having knocked them out of the Top 8 Cup 5-3 on post-match penalties in a space of two weeks at the same venue.

After a drab first half, Silver made a tactical change midway through the second half when Tetteh was introduced in place of Green Harawa.

The Ghanaian forward netted the first from a rebound before completing his brace with individual brilliance after outpacing KB defenders in stoppage time to ensure maximum points for Silver.

In a match watched by Flames coach, Ronny Van Geneugden, there was nothing to keep the fans on the edge of their seats apart from the two goals.

Elsewhere, Nyasa Big Bullets continued their resurgence with a 2-0 victory over Mzuni FC at Kalulu Stadium courtesy of Bright Munthali and Fischer Kondowe.

Bullets now have 10 points from five games.

At Mulanje Park, Be Forward Wanderers ended Premier Bet Wizards’ unbeaten run with a 1-0 victory, courtesy of Felix Zulu.

The Nomads have collected maximum points in their two league games.

Meanwhile, Red Lions ascended to the top of the log table with 12 points after a goalless draw against Azam Tigers.

Moyale Barracks defeated Chitipa United 1-0 at Mzuzu Stadium thanks to Khuda Muyaba’s lone goal whereas Masters Security and Mafco drew 1-1 at Dedza Stadium.

Sam Gunda netted for Masters whereas Paul Phiri scored from the spot for Mafco.
