As Malawi’s appetite for technological innovations continues to grow, Job Centre Africa (JCA) has launched a mobile application that will help link job seekers to recruiting companies.
The application is the first of its kind in Malawi allowing people to upload their resumes on the company’s database via mobile phones.
It also provides companies an opportunity to conduct interviews via the phone and in the process saving time consumed during face-to-face job interviews.
According to the company’s Marketing Manager Susan Kamkosi Banda, the application is currently available for free downloads on the google play store and istore.
In an interview, Banda stressed that the launch of the application will redefine the industry scope, especially on recruitment.
If you are looking for a job, first you need to be 18 years old or above, then download the application on your mobile phone. After the download, the app will guide you through the registration process and then you submit to jobcenterafrica@gmail.com to be registered on our database,” Banda said.
She added that during the registration process, applicants will be required to pay a processing fee of K5,200 which provides an opportunity for the company to keep searching for jobs for the applicant for an entire year.
“The processing fee is for 12 months but if an applicant was unable to get a job after eight months, we provide a refund. The money is paid to us using mobile money platforms that are running in the country,” Banda added.
The innovation comes at a time many Malawians are spending countless hours outside manufacturing companies and labour offices across the country in search of jobs.
