After a back-door return to the TNM Super League, Civil Sporting Club, formerly Civo United, is finding the going tough in the top-flight league having lost two consecutive games.
Civil started the season with a 1-0 home loss to Mafco and suffered another defeat 2-1 at the hands of rookies, Masters Security FC, at Dedza Stadium on Sunday.
Former South Africa’s Platinum Stars and Bidvest Wits forward Robin Ngalande netted a brace to hand his former club the defeat. Innocent Tanganyika scored Civil’s consolation goal.
But Civil Head Coach, Franco Ndawa, is optimistic that his team would bounce back and avoid relegation.
“It is just the start of the season but I hope we will soon get positive results,” Ndawa said.
Civil fans are likely panicking and would not want a repeat of last season.
For Masters, the first league victory was good news to Head Coach, Benjamin Kumwenda.
“We started the league with a loss but morale is high in camp after the victory. If we continue working hard, we will finish on a good position,” the former Mponela United Coach said.
Overall, Premier Bet Wizards top the log table with four points from two games, at par with Mzuni FC, but the Peter Mponda side has a better goal difference.
Red Lions and Blantyre United are third and fourth with three points, respectively.
Defending champions Kamuzu Barracks are second from bottom without a point from a single game whereas Chitipa United have a single point from three games.
