Central Zone Basketball League (Cezobal) reigning champions, Central Knights won the Chairperson’s Trophy over the weekend to fire warning shots ahead of the new season.
During the pre-season event, Knights underlined their class with an emphatic 77-58 victory over Mimbulu in an entertaining affair at Civo Basketball Court.
In the ladies category, Bravehearts won the trophy after thrashing Dynamites 82-38 at the same venue.
Knights Head of Fundraising and Marketing, Emanuel Phiri, said the champions were leaving no stone unturned ahead of the season.
“This is a warning to all teams that we are on a serious mission again this season. The players are eager to achieve more this year,” Phiri said.
Knights have roped in Coach, Martin Muchena, whose last coaching job was at Matero Magic Ladies in Zambia.
“We are also excited to have a new coach and morale is high among the players,” Phiri said.
Cezobal Chairperson, Hellen Chabunya, confirmed that the new campaign will throw off this weekend.
