Police still hunting for Lilongwe murder suspects

by

Three days after three people were found dead in Mitundu Forest in Lilongwe, police in the capital city have said they have not found anything pertaining to identification of the three and the culprits behind their death.

A man, a pregnant woman and a girl were found by some cattle herders who later alerted some older people nearby. The dead had their heads chopped off.

Lilongwe Police Spokesperson, Kingsley Dandaula, has described the case as complicated.

According to Dandaula, since Friday when the three were found, no one has reported to police pertaining to missing persons or anything relating to the case.

He has since called upon the general public to report to the police if they know of any case of missing people.

“Up to now, we have not identified the people but we have embarked on investigations and we are appealing to the general public to notify us if they have noted anyone missing in their localities. We are hopeful that we are going to know their identities,” he said.

The three bodies are currently being kept at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) mortuary pending identification.

Meanwhile, the National Advocacy Platform (Nap) has condemned government for apparently failing to ensure that people’s rights to security are guaranteed.

According to Nap Chairperson, Benedicto Kondowe, the series of murders and other criminal attacks on people and property that the country is experiencing were supposed to prod government to do something.
