Kamuzu Barracks talk tough, Big Bullets calm

TNM Super League champions, Kamuzu Barracks, have vowed to preserve their pedigree when meeting Nyasa Big Bullets in a Chifundo Charity Shield match Saturday at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

The two sides head into the second edition of the pre-season cup having lost to Be Forward Wanderers in the Wafa Wafa Big Four Bonanza held recently at Bingu National Stadium.

KB Team Manager, Francis Shaba, said his charges were leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of their first silverware this year.

“We are not under pressure because we know how to beat Bullets. We want it more and we want to show them that we are real champions of the TNM Super League. Let them underrate us at their own peril,” Shaba said.

On the other hand, Bullets want to defend the crown they won last year after beating Wanderers 2-0 in Lilongwe with goals from Muhammad Sulumba and Chiukepo Msowoya.

Bullets Assistant Coach, Elijah Kananji, was confident in his side’s prospect of defeating the soldiers.

“The preparations are going on well and the players are in good mood. As usual, it will not be an easy game for both teams but we are determined to defend it,” Kananji said.

KB and Bullets have contributed players to the Flames squad preparing for the match against Madagascar next week.

Bullets have contributed Chimango Kayira, Sulumba, John Lanjesi, Yamikani Fodya, Dalitso Sailesi and Ernest Kakhobwe whereas KB have contributed Lemani Nthala, Harvey Nkacha, Pempho Kamsichiri and Davie Banda.

Reports suggest that Flames Coach, Ronny van Geneugden, will release players from the clubs to feature in the Charity Shield match whose proceeds will go towards Kachere Rehabilitation Centre.

KB were crowned Super League champions for the first time last season with 62 points, a point above Bullets.
