TNM Super League champions, Kamuzu Barracks, and Presidential Cup winners, Nyasa Big Bullets, have intensified preparations for this Saturday’s Chifundo Charity Shield scheduled for Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
Both teams have since been boosted by the Flames Coach Ronny Van Geneugden’s decision to release their players today.
KB Team Manager, Francis Shaba, said their contribution of six players to the Flames was a clear, indication of the soldiers’ quality.
The soldiers have contributed to the Flames players such as Dave Banda, Manase Chiyesa, Harvey Nkacha, Kelvin Hanyanda and Lemani Nthala.
“After losing to Be Forward Wanderers in the Wafawafa Big Four Bonanza final, we told the boys to still work hard. Our aim is to defend the Super League title. We have been training hard. Facing Bullets will help to rectify our weaknesses. This Saturday, we want to show that we are the champions of Malawi,” Shaba said.
Bullets Coach, Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan, said he was aware of the importance of the match against the in-form Kamuzu Barracks.
Ramadhan said his charges were, after finishing in third place in the Wafawafa Bonanza, determined to bounce back.
“I know that Bullets fans were expecting us to spend big on the transfer market, but let me assure them that we will play our game and win the trophy. We want to continue the trend of winning the Charity Shield. Last year, we won it against Wanderers,” Ramadhan said.
Bullets will miss defender Miracle Gabeya who is out for two weeks due to injury.
Bullets players in the national team camp are Ernest Kakhobwe, Yamikani Fodya, John Lanjesi, Chimango Kayira, Dalitso Sailesi and Muhhammad Sulumba
