Football Association of Malawi (Fam) will hunt for coaches to replace Gerald Phiri Senior and Deklerk Msakakuona in the under-20 and under-17 national teams, respectively.

The duo has been incorporated in the Flames technical panel as assistant coaches to Ronny van Geneudgen.

Fam President, Walter Nyamilandu, said they would consult the National Coaches Association over the choice of the junior national team coaches.

“The two coaches will now be recruited by the government as civil servants to help run the senior team alongside the new coach,” Nyamilandu said.

“The process to finalise their employment is at an advanced stage. Meanwhile, we are looking for their replacements in the junior teams. The other coaches will also work as assistants to Ronny.”

Phiri and Msakakuona led the junior Flames to Cosafa under-20 and under-17 championships in Mauritius and South Africa last year.

The under-20 failed to register a win whereas the under-17 bagged a bronze medal.

Meanwhile, the senior team is preparing for the African Nations Championship (Chan) qualifier against Madagascar next weekend.

Malawi will stop over in Kenya for a friendly on April 18
