We will pay players—Masters FC

Masters Security Services FC General Secretary, Zacharia Nyirenda, has said the TNM Super League rookies are not struggling to take care of their players.

Unconfirmed reports were suggesting that despite registering big name players, the welfare of players is poor at the Lilongwe club.

But Nyirenda dismissed the reports.

“If people are saying we are not paying players, which salaries are they talking about? We have just signed these players and this will be the first month to give them their salaries, so can we pay the players before signing them?” Nyirenda wondered.

The Chipiku Premier Division champions announced a whooping budget of K120 million for this season, sending a message that they mean serious business.

But Nyirenda said people should not read much into the money.

“It is not that we have K120 million in our bank account but we have just budgeted for that amount. We can spend less than the said budget, so people should not think that we have a lot of money,” he said.

While not revealing how much they will be paying the players, Nyirenda said they have offered them good salaries.

The Lilongwe side was the busiest during the transfer period after signing 22 players such as Robin Ngalande, Bester Phiri, Eneya Banda, Jelesi Lufeyo, Simplex Nthala, Luka Milanzi and Peter Nselema.

Nyirenda insisted that the team was ready to take care of the players.

“By signing good players we know that competition will be high, resulting in good performance of the team. Most good players had interest in joining us because they knew that it is a good team,” he said.
