Chipiku league kicks off April 30

The 2017 Chipiku league season rolls to life on April 30, Central Region Football Association (CRFA) announced during its annual general meeting (AGM) held in Lilongwe over the weekend.

CRFA General Secretary, Bernard Harawa, said registration would close on May 10.

“We are, indeed, fearing that delays would force us to extend our games into the rainy season when games are needlessly postponed, culminating in excess expenses. The earlier we wind up our league, the better for all stakeholders,” Harawa said.

He appealed to teams to desist from violence and bribery.

“Teams have been severely warned that upon tangible evidence that bribery indeed took place, drastic punishments, including a ban, shall be meted to them,” Harawa added.

Nsundwe United Chairperson, Fanuel Mateyu, said his charges were ready for the new season.

Teams in the Premier Division will pay K140, 000 registration fee whereas Division One and Two will pay K120, 000 and K100, 000, respectively.

Chipiku Stores sponsors the 60-team three-tier league to the tune of K10million.

Last season, Masters Security were crowned Premier Division champions to earn TNM Super League promotion.

Lake Valley and Tontolinto were promoted to Division One and Two, respectively.
