Fashion and Music Festival (Fashimu) organisers have announced that all is set for the launch of the lakeside festival slated for Easter Weekend in Mangochi.
Fashimu Public Relations Officer, Constance Thyangathyanga, said in an interview on Wednesday that all performers have confirmed their participation in festival events.
“We are ready for the festival which will take place for three-and-a-half days at Nkopola in Mangochi. We will have beach sports in terms of football, netball, cultural dances and live performances by bands. Each day has different line ups. For example, from 8:00 am to 12 pm, we will have beach sports, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm, we will have performances from cultural troupes. From 1: 30 pm, we will have fashion designers’ shows, among other activities,” Thyangathyanga said.
Thyangathyanga said the festival, which will be held from April 14 to 17, has been organised in such a way that there will be something for everybody.
“For example, on Friday, we will have Miss Tourism Pageant and on Saturday we will have Mr Muscleman Contest. In terms of the Fashion Designers show, we will have fashion designers from all over the country. They will showcase their products and this is one way of promoting creativity. We have set the theme of women empowerment because we want to appreciate the role women play in society,” Thyangathyanga said.
