Seven out of 16 Super League teams have received full licences with seven others getting provisional ones in line with Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Club Licensing System.
Be Forward Wanderers, Moyale Barracks, Dwangwa United, Blue Eagles, Mzuni FC, Nyasa Big Bullets and Kamuzu Barracks have received full licences after hitting the 70 percent passing mark.
On the other hand, Red Lions, Silver Strikers, Mafco, Azam Tigers, Masters Security FC, Chitipa United and Blantyre United received provisional licences after making it into the 50 to 69 percent bracket.
Fam Transfer Matching System Manager, Casper Jangale, said teams with provisional licences have until the first round to attain the minimum mark.
He, however, said Premier Bet Wizards and Epac /Civo have not met the requirements for them to play in the Super League.
“[Premier Bet] Wizards have failed miserably to meet all the five criteria for awarding the licences. We wrote asking them to improve in all aspects [of a qualified coach, training ground, secretariat and fully-employed personnel],” Jangale said.
He added that the association’s First Instance Body will decide whether the relegated Civo will play in the top-flight league under Epac’s banner.
Wizards Technical Director, Peter Mponda, has conceded that his team has failed in many areas.
“What remains is the issue of our training ground. Otherwise, we have a very good home ground [in Mulanje District]. [But] I must admit that we are yet to get a coach with a Caf-B Licence, a secretariat and personnel,” Mponda said.
