Newly-appointed Lake Valley FC Coach, Oscar Kaunda, has defended his ‘rolling stone’ tag, saying since his departure from Civo United last season, he is yet to find a serious team.
Kaunda parted ways with newly-promoted Super League side, Masters Security Services FC, two months after joining the Lilongwe outfit as their Assistant Coach.
After being sacked by Civo last season, Kaunda worked for the Northern Region Premier Division club, Zolozolo United, before picking a job with Karonga United then Masters.
“All the teams I have been to since I left Civo have been lacking some seriousness in one way or the other. I was never under any contract. So, I went to Masters with all my heart thinking that I would settle down,” he said.
“Unfortunately, at Masters all was not well. There were issues at the club that made me unhappy and I was on my way back to my village again. So Lake Valley approached me and I accepted,” explained the Caf C Licence holder.
“[It] is something that I cannot talk about in the media or in public. My focus now is to work with Lake Valley owner and help the team achieve its goals— that is to make them a Super League team next year,” Kaunda added.
Masters FC General Secretary, Zakaria Nyirenda, could only thank Kaunda for his services, saying he helped beef up the team.
Kaunda won the hearts in 2015 after steering Civo to the Standard Bank Knock- Out Trophy before taking Zolozolo to the 2016 Fisd Challenge Cup quarterfinals, but failed to save Karonga from Super League relegation.
Lake Valley Technical Director, Abbas Makawa, confirmed that Kaunda had joined them.
“I have been appointed Technical Director so the club needed a new coach and Kaunda was approached,”
