SURROUNDED by friends and admirers, four M-Dubz  Dope Crew members— Stuart Maunjiri, Gomezgani Mkandawire, Salim Pandor and Rocka Lanjesi— could not help but be in celebratory mood. Who could blame them?

They had just won the K2 million Kajive Season 3 prize money at a well-patronised finale held at Robin’s Park in Blantyre yesterday.

However, it was not a stroll in the park for the Blantyre-based group as it had to negotiate stumbling blocks such as Selector Boys, who came second,  and the Floor Steppers, who tied on third position with Force, United and Success (Forus) Dancing Crew.

It took over 20 minutes for judges— comprising Sharon Chirwa, Yankho Seunda and Kenny Clips— to arrive at the final decision that turned M-Dubz Dope Crew from hopefuls to millionaires, courtesy of Times Television and Airtel Malawi.

One of the members, Maunjili, could not help but shed tears of joy. Trainer for M-Dubz Dope Crew, Super DT, said the dancers had invested “a lot” in the competition to achieve their goal of laying hands on the money.

“The group has gone through a lot and we had to invest a lot in training. I am happy that the efforts have paid off,” said DT, a renowned television personality.

Immediately after Master of Ceremony Fatsani Kalonda announced that M-Dubz Dope Crew had carried the day, group members were mobbed by admirers, family and friends.

Hard work had paid off.
