To prepare for the 2017 Super League season, four giants will clash during a two-day bonanza which will kick off on Saturday at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
Thabo Nyirenda, one of the organisers of the bonanza, confirmed that Super League champions, Kamuzu Barracks, Nyasa Big Bullets, Silver Strikers and Be Forward Wanderers will meet over the weekend.
“Everything is set. We have identified four companies which have promised to provide prizes for outstanding players and teams. We are still courting some,” he explained.
“Initially, we wanted teams from Blantyre to compete among themselves with those from Lilongwe also doing the same. However, the set up has changed as Kamuzu Barracks will battle it out against Bullets while the Central Bankers will face Wanderers.”
Nyirenda, who is also Silver Strikers General Secretary, said they were targeting a gross of K100 million from the bonanza.
“We are ready for the tournament, which will really help us to assess our preparations for the elite league,” he added.
Kamuzu Barracks General Secretary, Michael Chemaere, Tuesday vowed to grab the bonanza.
Local musician Tay Grin is expected to spice up the bonanza with a live performance.
Spectators will pay K1,000, K2,000 and K5,000 each for the open, covered and VIP stands, respectively, whereas a seat at the corporate box will cost K30,000.
