New kid on the block, Simeon Tcheta has challenged struggling boxer Kudakwache Nkhakamila Banda for a non-title middleweight contest.

The eight-rounder is scheduled for M1 Centre Point in Lilongwe on April 2.

Kudakwache is making a comeback after suffering two successive losses to Limbani Masamba.

Considered as the next big thing to have happened in domestic boxing circles, Kudakwache surrendered his perfect record and the welterweight title after the two knockout defeats.

Now Kudakwache has, following advice from experts, switched to the middleweight category.

However, he will likely have it tough against Tcheta who is undefeated in five fights Tcheta has since vowed to frustrate Kudakwache.

“I have already defeated the guys he conquered before. I think I beat them in style too. It seems Kudakwache is returning to middleweight because he has been frustrated in welterweight division. However, I will guarantee him one thing— that his misery is not over. I will pound him further,” Tcheta said.

Tcheta, 24, boasts a record of three knockouts having defeated Roy Yuda, Yusuf Dilla, Dickson Saidi and Lameck Mkangama.

Kudakwache, 23, said he was delighted with Tcheta’s challenge.

“All I want is to bounce back in winning style. Tcheta is a good boxer but I will show no mercy on him. I want to begin another chapter,” he said.

Kudakwache has 12 wins and two defeats.

New Dawn Boxing Promotions Managing Director, Mike Chimaliza, confirmed the bill, saying the winner will earn another fight.

“We want to motivate both boxers to aim for victory so that they can stand a chance of vying for another fight. In due course, we will announce names of other boxers that will feature on the bill in supporting fights,” he said.
