The gods of luck have finally smiled on Southern Region Volleyball Committee (SRVC) with lubricants engineers, Lube Masters, committing K600,000 to the region’s league.
The support brings a sigh of relief after teams endured years of playing without sponsorship.
The sponsorship drought contributed to low volleyball standards in the region as its teams failed to compete against their Central and Northern region counterparts during national tournaments.
Lube Masters Sales Director, Chimwemwe Chiwalo, said the company felt compelled to fill the sponsorship gap.
“It was easy for us to decide on sponsoring the league because the three of us who are the company’s directors, come from a background of volleyball,” Chiwalo explained.
He said the company will enter into a long term partnership with SRVL upon being satisfied with teams’ discipline and commitment.
“But we are confident that our relationship with the game will not be short-lived. We want to be a long term member of the volleyball family,” Chiwalo said.
SRVL Chairperson, Pacharo Ngwira, commended Lube Masters for coming to the league’s rescue.
Ngwira said SRVC will continue to enforce discipline and accountability in the league so as to maintain good relations with the sponsor.
“We will use the sponsorship to improve our standards so that we can compete better at national tournaments. It pains me to see teams failing to win when they play their counterparts from the North and Centre. The coming in of the sponsorship will help us to build strong teams,” Ngwira said.
