The Great Hall in Zomba will tomorrow host the University of Malawi (Unima) Got Talent— Chancellor College (Chanco) Premiere show.

Tawonga Ng’oma, who is the Event Coordinator, said all was set for the show which will have an eviction show.

“We will announce the results of the votes and proceed to have the contestants that make it through to perform for the judges. There will be five contestants with performances of three minutes each,” Ng’oma said.

She said they had 10 contestants but only five will perform following the votes that were cast by the Chanco audience.

“We will have two finalists who will make it to the grand finale. Actually we have a premiere at Poly. The College of Medicine Premiere was already done and then the grand finale with all the finalists from the three constituent colleges,” Ng’oma said.

She said during the event, there will also be give-aways from Airtel Malawi.

The Unima Got Talent stems from the Chanco Got Talent which started last year with Chanco students battling it out showcasing different talents.

The contest has now been expanded bringing in other colleges such as Polytechnic and College of Medicine.

The competition is being driven by Lens Art in partnership with Times Group through Times Television.

While last year the Chanco Got Talent winners, Motion of Movement went away with K500,000, the winners of the Unima Got Talent will pocket K1 million.

Times Group Chief Commercial Manager, Dumisani Ngulube, said they were happy to be part of the Unima Got Talent.

Ngulube said through Times Television they would want to uplift arts in the country.

In another development Ngulube said auditions for the Ka Jive Dance competition which were expected to be held at the same venue tomorrow have been postponed.

“We are involved with the Unima Got Talent and so we had to concentrate on this event first hence postponing the Ka Jive Dance contest. We will communicate the new date as we are still discussing with the sponsors Airtel Malawi,” he said.

Airtel Malawi has pumped in K6 million to the Ka Jive Dance competition which will see the winner walk away with K2 million.
