Police in Zomba have arrested a 35-year-old herbalist, Rajab Issa, for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman (name withheld).
Zomba Police Spokesperson, Patricia Sipiliano, has confirmed the development, saying Issa committed the offence on November 9, this year, when the victim visited him to get herbs for her sick child.
“When the victim visited Issa on the material day, she was told to come during the night. But when she returned that night to get the herbs as agreed, she was allegedly raped and told not to reveal to anyone. The witchdoctor warned her that if she revealed the incident, her child would die,” Sipiliano said.
Meanwhile, the police are appealing to the general public to seek medical attention from modern health facilities.
Issa comes from Chisitu Village, in the area of Chief Malemia in Zomba
