McDonald Mtetemera, says it is too early to rule out his team’s chances of surviving relegation in the TNM Super League.

Despite his team losing 3-2 to Karonga United two weeks ago in the opening match of the second round at Mzuzu Stadium, Mtetemera said he had a survival strategy in the remaining 14 games.

“I cannot disclose the plan, but as a team, we have tried to recruit some players to beef up our squad. We are confident that we will stay in the league,” he said.

Mtetemera further ruled out the chances of grabbing the league championship, saying they were underdogs in the league.

Placed on second position from bottom, Dwangwa have played 16 games with 11 points. Dwangwa have won twice, drawn five and lost nine.

Dwangwa beat Civo United 2-1 at Civo Stadium before thumping Azam Tigers by the same margin at Kamuzu Stadium in the first round.

The financially-struggling team recently received a financial boost following a K30 million donation from Illovo Sugar Company and K2 million from Ethanol Company.

Dwangwa’s striker, Jack Chiona, is among the players that have scored five goals in the league, alongside Red Lions’ Moses Namkumba, Civo’s Nelson Kangunje, Lughindiko Mshani for Mzuni, Moyale’s Gastin Simkonda and Silver Strikers’ Matthews Sibale.
